Now The Opportunity Has Come!

Topic: Now The Opportunity Has Come!
Text: Philipians 4: 10 – 11

10 I rejoiced greatly in the Lord that at last you renewed your concern for me. Indeed, you were concerned, but you had no opportunity to show it. 11 I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. Amen

Apostle Paul was grateful that the Philippian church had once more renewed their concern for him. Indeed he was fully aware they didn’t mind being a blessing to him except they never really got the opportunity to do so.

Brethren, you may have deferred giving through out the year due to several reasons: flimsy or tangible. Now you have the opportunity to give. Christmas brings you that opportunity.

Just as our Father demonstrated His love by giving His Son a ransom for our sins, so we have the privilege this season to demonstrate love to all around us, especially the NEEDY.

Be sensitive to their needs! Respond to those needs while you pray for them, and share the Good News as well. Don’t just give “used clothes” or “left over” food and go about applauding yourself for a great job done.

Don’t just drop donations at an orphanage (as you usually do once each year) and conclude you have done ALL that Christ expects you to do. Especially, when you know you can do far more.

Like Paul, most people have leant to be content either by few or plenty. If you are going to bless them, mean it at least and let it cost you. Which means, instead of dropping gifts from afar, try rather to get closer and demonstrate pure love.

Give what will solve a problem, not just your “left-over”. Invite them into your heart, home and car. Have a chat with them, take them out to see town, inquire about their situation, embrace them with love. In a nut shell, simply share Jesus with those who are lost and care for them like Christ expects us to do.

All year round you had an excuse why you couldn’t demonstrate love, now the opportunity has come. It will be great if you can be a blessing to an individual, ministry or institution this season.

Begin to pray for a generous and sensitive heart to change a life this Christmas. Your own life will be changed in the process too. Click: https://youtu.be/McUO9lh_yCs.
