Press On To Know Him

Topic: Press On To Know Him
Text: Hosea 6: 3

Oh, that we might know the LORD! Let us press on to know Him. He will respond to us as surely as the arrival of dawn or the coming of rains in early spring. Amen

Those who thought they knew the Lord only yesterday, woke up this morning to a new encounter with and experience of Him that they have never known before. And this should be their expectation everyday as they fellowship with this awesome God we serve. “Oh, how great are God’s riches and wisdom and knowledge! How impossible it is for us to understand His decisions and His ways. For who can know the LORD’s thoughts? Who knows enough to give Him advice?” Rom 11: 33- 34 (NLT)

“Great is the LORD! He is most worthy of praise! No one can measure His greatness” (Ps 145: 3, NLT). Yet He reveals the depth of His greatness to those who are willing, that men might know Him as the Almighty and revere Him as such.

Beloved, why don’t you press to know Him some more everyday than you did yesterday? Just as the words of each person reveal who they are and what they represent, so does the Word of God, by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, reveal the nature of God to us. “The LORD confides in those who fear Him; He makes His covenant known to them.” (Ps 25: 14)

Therefore, “seek the LORD while He may be found; call on Him while He is near” (Isaiah 55: 6). The mysteries that you will uncover everyday on this quest to know Him will marvel you; how steadfast and faithful He is to His promises. This will allay all your anxieties and fears. It will also make you hopeful and confident to do exploits for our King. Prophet Daniel puts it better when He says, “the people who know their God shall stand firm and take action.” (Dan 11: 32b, ESV)

Meditate on this word and begin to pray; saying “Teach me your way, LORD, that I may rely on your faithfulness; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name” (Ps 86: 11). It is only then that you can “Say to those who have an anxious heart, ‘Be strong; fear not! Behold, your God will come with vengeance, with the recompense of God. He will surely come and save you.’” (Isaiah 35:4, ESV)

For, the one thing that all who are striving to know God more can attest to is that, “He will respond to us as surely as the arrival of dawn or the coming of rains in early spring.” If you didn’t know anything about God, never forget this one: GOD WILL SURELY APPEAR TO ALL WHO CALL UPON HIM, AND TO THOSE WHO CALL UPON HIM IN TRUTH. Get to know Him, and see if you wouldn’t want to know Him even more.
