Text: Matthew 8: 14 -15

14 When Jesus arrived at Peter’s house, Peter’s mother-in-law was sick in bed with a high fever. 15 But when Jesus touched her hand, the fever left her. Then she got up and prepared a meal for Him. Amen

Peter, as a disciple of Jesus, had walked with Him and seen the Master perform many miracles. Right before his very eyes, Jesus had healed all kinds of sicknesses and cast out all the demons that were tormenting the people who came to Him for deliverance.

When Jesus arrived at Peter’s house one day, He was informed that Peter’s mother-in-law was sick in bed with a high fever and obviously needing a healing. A single touch from the Master JESUS CHRIST sent her fever running.

After receiving her healing, Peter’s mother-in-law does something amazing and worthy of emulating; she gets up and prepares a meal for Him. Her response to Jesus’ touch was to wait on Him in service. She recognized and appreciated the healing she had received from Jesus so much that she immediately demonstrated her gratitude by serving and waiting on the Master for His good pleasure.

Like this woman who was sick, most of us have been in situations which needed the intervention of God. In our distress, pain, sorrow and confusion, we cried out to God to help us. Some of us didn’t even know Him or have a relationship with Him. It was those around us that interceded on our behalf till the Lord touched us and turned our lives around for good.

And what has been your appreciation for this? What has been your service to the King; how much have you availed yourself for His purpose and good pleasure; how much time do you spend with Him in prayer, Bible study and righteous living; how willing are you to be spent for His kingdom’s sake; and finally, how well do you support the course of Christ in evangelism and outreaches?

No one can answer these questions on your behalf. However, it is not too late to offer our lives as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God. He requires our availability for service now more than ever.

Let the redeemed of the Lord rise up to duty, sharing with others the love of Christ they have experienced. No more delays and procrastinations. In fact, no more lazying about just because we received the healing, deliverance or breakthrough that we earnestly prayed for.

Our willingness and desire to be available for the Master’s use in service is always going to be a proof of our genuine love for Him and our gratitude for His wondrous works in our lives.

Begin to pray now. Ask God for grace to serve Him as a token of your gratitude; with all your heart, mind and strength. Also pray that your response to His service after each touch will be immediate; one that will be in absolute reverence to His supreme majesty.

Now hear the word of the Lord: In the name of Jesus Christ we declare you healed, delivered and free from all that has kept you captive till now! Rise up from the shadows and serve the Lord with all your heart.
