Text: Matthew 8: 14 -15

14. When Jesus arrived at Peter’s house, Peter’s mother-in-law was sick in bed with a high fever. 15. But when Jesus touched her hand, the fever left her. Then she got up and prepared a meal for him. Amen

Peter, as a disciple of Jesus had walked with Him and seen the master perform many miracles. He healed every kind of sickness that was brought to Him, cast out demons and a whole lot of miracles.

Jesus arrives at Peter’s house to realize that Peter’s mother-in-law was sick in bed with a high fever. The master does what He does best (that is, healing people and delivering those that are oppressed by the devil). He touched her hand, and the fever left her.

After receiving her healing, Peter’s mother-in-law does something amazing and worthy emulating; she got up and prepared a meal for Him. Her response to Jesus’ healing touch was to wait on the Him – immediately. She recognized and appreciated the healing she had received from Jesus and waited on (or served) Him immediately.

Like this dear mother in her sick state, most of us had been in situations which needed the hand of God to intervene. In our distress, pain, sorrow and confusion, we cried out to God for help. And yes! He did show up. However, what has been the attitude towards the things of God after we received our healing or breakthrough? How has our love for God increased and our dedication towards His word improved? Also, in what ways has our divine encounter with Him increased our support for the course of Christ?

The time is now to wait on the Lord and to be available for His use. No more delays, no more procrastinations. No more lazying about. Certainly not after all that the touch of God has done for us. This is not the time to sleep and pretend ignorance to the charge of the great commission. The master awaits your availability NOW! Our response to Him should be an immediate: YES LORD.

Our willingness and desire to respond to the touch of God is a proof of our genuine love for Him and our gratitude as well. Begin to pray now. Ask God for grace to respond to Him and also challenge yourself that henceforth, your response to the things of God will be immediate, and with an ABSOLUTE YES!
