Too Many To Declare

Today’s Devotion
Topic:Too Many To Declare
Text: Psalm 40: 5

Many, Lord my God, are the wonders you have done, the things you planned for us. None can compare with you; were I to speak and tell of your deeds, they would be too many to declare. Amen

There is a popular hymn Johnson Oatman wrote in 1897, whose words are so true. It says, “when upon life’s billows you are tempest-tossed, when you are discouraged, thinking all is lost, Count your many blessings; name them one by one, and it will surprise you what the Lord has done.”

In our lives, the devil gets no glory! God has been good to us. Although we are told by experts that the capacity of the human mind is highly under-utilized, it still appears to have no room to store all of our God’s benefits in our lives.

It is very practical actually; simply start the count and you will see. Only make sure you start from all the things that could happen to you in your sleep; including those things that would have affected your children and household just because of your inability to keep watch over all things everywhere, all the time.

Continue to the many things within your body that are working perfectly without your permission. With all your internal organs, cells, veins and muscles functioning very well to get you active for every good work. Also, think about the many things that can sometimes go wrong within an individual, and see how well God sustains you.

Will you consider your background too? Maybe you should! Do you remember how this journey called’life’ began for you and your family? Just see how far the Lord has brought you. Inspite of all those challenges; and they have been many, but the Lord has just delivered you from all.

Beloved, all the above represent the great things He has done. Have you thought of the greater things He is about to do? Is it not written that “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love Him?” (1 Corin 2: 9). Is the glory of the latter temple not always better than that of the former? Our God is excellent in all His ways. His goodness is everlasting and His love, true.

In one of his numerous compositions, Don Moen encourages us to “think about His love; think about His goodness; think about His grace that’s brought us through (and give Him praise). For as high as the heavens above, so great is the measure of our Father’s love.” Yes, great has been the measure of our Father’s love.

Begin to worship God with all your heart, mind and soul. He’s worthy! Lift Him up for being this gracious to you and your household.

After this, refuse to worry about a thing, but in all your prayers ask Him for what you need, always asking Him with a thankful heart. And God’s peace, which is far beyond human understanding, will keep your heart and mind safe in union with Christ Jesus (Phil 4: 6-7). You are, and have always been so blessed. Only, you didn’t always see.
