They Did Not Know The Lord?

Today’s Devotion
Topic: They Did Not Know The Lord?
Text: Judges 2: 7,10,12

7 The people served the Lord throughout the lifetime of Joshua and of the elders who outlived him and who had seen all the great things the Lord had done for Israel. 10 After that whole generation had been gathered to their ancestors, another generation grew up who knew neither the Lord nor what He had done for Israel. 12 They forsook the Lord, the God of their ancestors, who had brought them out of Egypt. They followed and worshiped various gods of the peoples around them. They aroused the Lord’s anger. Amen

Once it has happened in history, it is not out of place to anticipate it happening again if care is not taken; that a generation can arise who neither knows the Lord nor what He has done for us.

A generation of “video gaming”, “twitting”, “whatsapping”, “instagraming” “facebooking”, “movie loving” “soccer and fashion adoring” boys and girls whose parents were too busy or shy to teach them about the Lord and the great things He’s done.

A generation where parents found the Bible to be cumbersome and decided to offer their wards unlimited and uncontrolled access to the internet. They were to read wide and broaden their horizon. Forgetting that there are as many fraudsters, gangsters, pedophiles, cyber bullies and criminals as there is, who will always be ready to capitalize on the naivety of some young people and lead them astray.

Also on the internet is found adult videos (pornography) and other form of tutorials and disturbing materials designed to corrupt the minds of all who access them.

That generation to come who do not know the Lord has begun in your home. Everyday you refuse to share the Word of God and prayer with your wards; in fact, every time you decide to abandon them because they are stubborn and unruly, you are actually breeding that generation.

And we can’t even blame young people so much for going wayward, can we? “How can they call on the One they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the One of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?” (Rom 10: 14). Somebody somewhere should be teaching them about Jesus. Somebody should be leading them to the Lord. Will that be you?

See you at church, brethren; you and your entire household.
