The Reward For Labour!

Today’s Devotion
Topic: The Reward For Labour!
Text: Ecclesiastics 2: 10b – 11

My heart took delight in all my labor, and this was the reward for all my toil. 11 Yet when I surveyed all that my hands had done and what I had toiled to achieve, everything was meaningless, a chasing after the wind; nothing was gained under the sun. Amen

King Solomon, the wisest of all men, after surveying everything under the heavens, and calling them all vanity, spoke of something that is almost missing in the lives of people these days; THE EXPECTED REWARDS OF OUR LABOUR!

What do we expect to gain from all our toils? Ask this question and the most likely answer you will get is “we work to make money”. Well, the fact that money is a great motivation to hard work can not be denied. However, the rewards of our labour definately goes beyond “the financial”.

We have become so “money-minded” that we do not even mind what we do to get it. Some of us are into dubious businesses that do not bring glory to God. Others are not concerned about the plight of their workers and surbodinates. We pay them remunerations that we know will not improve their livelihood in any way all in the name of cutting down total production cost and improve profit margins.

Students cheat their way through exam. Workers engage in practices that make them gain a liltle more than their salaries should be at the detriment of the company. Young people could be trading their bodies for a few notes, you know. While many others are seeking negative spiritual assistance, just to manipulate others to make some more money.

IS GOD LIVING IN YOUR HEART? ARE YOU INVOLVED IN THE KIND OF WORK THAT BRINGS GLORY TO GOD? DOES YOUR HEART DELIGHT IN THAT LABOUR? If so, keep pressing on, work very hard even if the results you desire, are not forthcoming. At the appointed time, you will reap more than money; God will bless you with a great sense fulfilment, favour, opportunities and an inheritance for posterity.

However if what you do as work doesn’t glorify God or if this heart of yours, that want to please God always, does not delight in your “LABOUR”, then take a second look at your work. Pray for wisdom to restrategize. If you need to change the job all together, trust God for open doors.

Begin to pray now! Commit everything about your work or schooling into the hands of God. Ask Him to take control and grant you wisdom to execute your duties diligently. If you need a change of job, ask God for directions as well. But, by all means, bring God into your work situation throughout your career. He, not money, is the fulfilment you need and YOUR EXCEEDING GREAT REWARD.

Let us spend some time to adore God and invoke His presence over us, as we step into a new working week. Click: https://youtu.be/1FRPL-b-Hqc.
