Seclusion/ Silence Till It’s Necessary To Speak!

Today’s Devotion
Topic: Seclusion/ Silence Till It’s Necessary To Speak!
Text: Luke 1: 24.

After this his wife Elizabeth became pregnant and for five months remained in seclusion. Amen.

When Zechariah’s week of service in the Temple was over, he returned home and true to the words of Angel Gabriel, Elizabeth became pregnant.

However instead of jumping around and spreading the news all across Judea that God had visited her with the greatest desire of her heart, she rather hid herself away for 5 months.

Beloved, sometimes we are too much in a hurry to let people see how blessed we are. No sooner had we received a great prophecy or seen a wonderful dream/vision than we announce to all and sundry.

But you see, it is good to be hidden away sometimes. It may also be great to keep mute about what you have seen God doing in your life. He is God, and it takes time to understand His ways.

The only person Elizabeth is recorded to have expressed her emotions concerning the fulfilment of her prophecy to was her godly cousin Mary; whose spirit bore witness with her spirit about the faithfulness of God.

Mary had also had an angelic visitation and was directed to Elizabeth as a confirmation of that prophecy. Even that was after 6 months of Elizabeth’s pregnancy. And let us not forget that Mary was also discrete about her prophecy and its fulfilment. She didn’t run around telling everyone, she pondered and treasured them in her heart (Luke 2: 19).

The only reason why the two women shared their testimonies was because God permitted that. They connected spiritually and the destiny of their unborn sons were intertwined. Even the unborn babies in their wombs communicated by leaping for joy to confirm their divine bond.

God has several blessings awaiting you in the coming year. Do not be in a hurry to spread them to the world even when you see them manifesting. Ponder them prayerfully in your heart and be grateful. FOR GOD WILL DO ALL WHAT HE PROMISES TO DO- YOURS IS TO BE STILL AND KNOW THAT HE IS GOD!

Meditate on this word and begin to pray. Ask for wisdom to be discrete and circumspect in how you handle the promises of God.
