Nothing Concealed

Today’s Devotion
Topic: Nothing Concealed
Text: Luke 12: 2-3

2 There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known. 3 What you have said in the dark will be heard in the daylight, and what you have whispered in the ear in the inner rooms will be proclaimed from the roofs. Amen

Our God is omnipresent and omniscient. It means He is everywhere and knows everything. Can you imagine that? He knows what we did, what we are doing and what we will do. He also knows the corresponding times we did or will be doing those things. We cannot hide from Him, neither can we escape His thoughts.

Beloved, God knows your name, your thoughts and your intentions. He knows your struggle with lust, He is aware you steal, drink alcohol and smoke cigarettes when no one is watching. He knows of all the anxious moments you experience at night and the depression that kills your confidence.

Yet, He also knows of all the good intentions you have; how you long to do good to others, how you yearn to serve Him uprightly, how your heart yearns for souls that are lost. There is nothing concealed before Him.

The truth is that, if we all lived with the consciousness of the above fact, we would at least do our best to please God with all our actions. We would not be busy devising and covering evil.

A married man wouldn’t keep his infidelity from his wife until one STD or ‘unplanned’ pregnancy gives him away. A self-acclaimed ‘virgin’ would not be found wanting after marriage with a lot of explanations to do.

A dishonest salesman who manages to ‘outsmart’ all his customers wouldn’t have to be duped by his crook ‘susu’ collector and he will not be able to tell anyone about this because the source of those savings will then be questioned.

Actually, there has NEVER been ONE secret in this whole world. We will all agree that the secrets of our past are almost always ‘revived’ in our memory each time we encounter similar situations.

Beloved, this devotion is challenging us to live our lives as people who are conscious of the fact that our actions all lay bare before God and He will bring them to judgment. Come therefore, and let us go before the throne of grace to obtain mercy. When we are weak, He makes us strong.

Begin to pray now, that the sovereign Lord will help you live for Him whether in secret or in public.
