Text : Isaiah 58:11-12 NLT

11 The Lord will guide you continually, giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength. You will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing spring. 12 Some of you will rebuild the deserted ruins of your cities. Then you will be known as a rebuilder of walls and a restorer of homes. Amen

God was not pleased with the kind of worship Israel was rendering to Him. To Him, the people were merely following the ‘rules’ for worship and acting with pretense before God; their motives were not genuine.

Israel kept querying God as to why He didn’t seem interested in their affairs.”We have fasted before you! …Why aren’t you impressed? We have been hard on ourselves, and you don’t even notice it!” ( Isaiah 58:3a). The reason? Because they kept on doing the wrong things even when they fasted; their zeal for God was a misdirected one. Things were not being done right as far as God was concerned. Things had to be done right!

Perhaps we have also queried God and asked why He isn’t responding to our calls. We do “everything” required of us, yet things remain unchanged. With time, our zeal wanes off, our strength is sapped, weariness sets in and ultimately, desperation gets the better of us and we decide not to ‘forgive’ God. He has been unfair to us.

But Beloved, the important things have to be done and done right. There is a kind of worship and sacrifice that pleases God, “..a broken heart and contrite spirit (Psalm 51:17).” When we pursue holiness and desire to know God for ourselves; when we yield completely to God for the joy of pleasing Him; when our motives and desires are in line with God’s Will, when we reach out to others, we see a turnaround in our lives. The hand of God works wonders on for us. Our strength is renewed constantly; He answers quickly when we call.

In this way, we see God going ahead of us and nourishing our lands, gently restoring our strength and gracing our lives with the changes we so earnestly desire. We do exploits for God, we revive shattered dreams and aspirations and become agents of change in our families. It’s a great thing to serve the Lord, but it’s more beautiful and glorious to allow God to lead us. That way, we will always do things right.

Begin to pray and yield your all to God. Ask for grace and humility to submit your desires to Him, trust in His timing and to be instructed by His Holy Spirit into doing everything the right way that pleases the Lord. He will prove to you how faithful He is to His word. He never puts to shame. Click: https://youtu.be/HC5707bPzw0
