Hold On To Your Confession About God!

Topic: Hold On To Your Confession About God!
Text: Ezra 8: 22

I was ashamed to ask the king for soldiers and horsemen to protect us from enemies on the road, because we had told the king, “The gracious hand of our God is on everyone who looks to Him, but His great anger is against all who forsake Him.” Amen

We have said a lot about the Living God we serve to many, since we came to know Him. His marvellous works and ability to save, heal, restore and provide for all His children. We have also spoken to others about His sovereignty and lordship over and above every situation.

Now, because all the above are true of our God, the whole of creation is in eager expectation of the manifestation of the sons of God. However, as we await that glorious moment, our present situation may seem challenging and questionable to the world. We may really be in need of breakthroughs in several aspects of our lives – finances, jobs, marriages, families, etc.

In fact, the thought of seeking help outside God’s provisions may keep lingering in our minds — we tend to envy the prosperity of the wicked which today is, but no more by tomorrow. Our eagerness to “measure up” to their standard sometimes makes us do things that are contrary to the Word of God.

But brethren, if God does not help us, from where can anyone get us help? That is why Ezra was ashamed to ask the king for soldiers and horsemen to protect them from enemies on the road. He and the rest had told the king earlier that, “The gracious hand of our God is on everyone who looks to Him.” And it is true.

It seemed best, therefore, that they went on this trip alone and without the king’s soldiers — just to demonstrate to the king that what they told him about their God was true. They had to live their confession and prove the Word of God so that all would see and know that God lives and is able to walk us through each storm.

Beloved, it is our turn today to demonstrate with our faith the things we tell others about our God. This is not the time to be faithless and doubtful of the very truth about God that we’ve preached to others — so that, we go to “a king” for a backup plan of protection on the way should God fail to deliver.

That will be a great indictment on our God and on His Word. He is faithful and will never allow those who trust in Him to bow their heads in shame.

Begin to pray, therefore. Remind the Lord of His promises and ask Him to help build your faith even stronger so that you do not take matters into your own hands. Jehovah is the Dependable One who NEVER puts to shame. He will always watch over His Word to perform. Hold on to His Word, to the end!
