Eternal Life!

Today’s Devotion
Topic: Eternal Life!
Text: John 17: 3

Now this is eternal life: that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. Amen

When we hear of eternal life, we have only thoughts of a never-ending life to be spent in Heaven. Our expectations about heaven are so enormous that, we just wouldn’t want to miss it, especially that part that says that we will walk through the streets of gold. But is that all eternal life is about? Certainly not – there is more to it.

Beloved, God wants us to know Him and experience Him more than we can ever do on this earth. That’s the reason He has placed this unique life – called eternal life – in His Son Jesus, so that through His Son we can become partakers of this wonderful inheritance.

John 17: 3 explains eternal life in the simplest way. It is in knowing the only true God and the Son He sent for the salvation of our souls. Eternal life is therefore not the life after death/ rapture per say, but the “GOD-KIND OF LIFE” WE BEGIN TO LIVE RIGHT AFTER RECEIVING JESUS AS LORD AND SAVIOUR.

Actually, we keeping perfecting this life with each knowledge of God acquired until He finally appears. There, He will translate us (both the living and dead) into His likeness (perfection) so that we reign eternally with Him.

  • Here on earth, the gift of eternal life in us makes us live the victorious life of Christ (Zoe) and partake of the divine nature and blessings of God.
  • Should we die, the seed of Christ Jesus deposited in us enables us to rise up again at the rapture. We will then be changed into the likeness of Christ and reign eternally with Him in everlasting glory (read: 1 Corinthians 15: 51- 52).

Precious One, it is important to know that it is only when we know God and believe in the Son that we receive eternal life. For “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abides on Him” (John 3: 36)

Now, let’s begin to think of eternal life with meaning. Jesus won victory over sin and death and gives us the blessing of living now and eternally with Him. Pray that you may know and accept Him more while on earth. For that is the begining of ETERNAL LIFE.
