Confusion In The Church- Part 2

Today’s Devotion
Topic: Confusion In The Church- Part 2
Text: Ephesians 4:11-13

11 So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, 12 to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Amen

The confusion that existed in the camp of Israel is not over yet. Until God indicates tomorrow which of these two men He is happy with, the camp remains divided. As it stands now, Korah maintains that Moses has gone too far while Moses accuses him of same.

In the process of waiting till the next day when the Lord reveals His verdict, Moses had an advice for Korah:

“Moses also said to Korah, “Now listen, you Levites! 9 Isn’t it enough for you that the God of Israel has separated you from the rest of the Israelite community and brought you near himself to do the work at the Lord’s tabernacle and to stand before the community and minister to them? 10 He has brought you and all your fellow Levites near himself, but now you are trying to get the priesthood too?” (Numbers 16: 8- 10)

Dear Beloved, this counsel Moses has just given Korah is very profound. Our primary concern should be salvation. We must rejoice and be content that God has delivered us out of darkness and brought us close to Himself. From there, any role He deems best for us to play, we must offer ourselves diligently to it without grumblings and complains.

We are expected to serve in that capacity so well and not preoccupy our thoughts with another person’s assignment. For He gave some to be Apostles, Prophets, Teachers, etc, to equip His people for works of service so that the body of Christ may be built up.

The confusion begins when the Prophet wants the place of the Apostle although he clearly lacks the grace to operate in that office. There is more confusion when followers who are ill equipped to lead become discontent with their position and undermine the leader to take his place. SADLY, THIS WRANGLE BRINGS DISUNITY AND GIVES THE ENEMY AN ADVANTAGE OVER US.

Let us all be grateful for salvation then and work the best way we can to edify each other to be who God wants us to be. Work the field of souls God has placed you in, and leave Him to handle the rest.

Meditate on this and begin to pray for unity for all believers. You can encourage another laborer in the vineyard, correct or even rebuke him/ her to work in a manner that befits the king, BUT DON’T WANT THEIR PLACE IF GOD HAS NOT ASSIGNED YOU THERE. The power struggles must stop now. Let’s remember that Christ is the head of the church, and he sets the best example for us to follow. In Him, we are all one. Let’s learn to follow in His steps.
