Text: Daniel 6: 4

At this, the administrators and the satraps tried to find grounds for charges against Daniel in his conduct of government affairs, but they were unable to do so. They could find no corruption in him, because he was trustworthy and neither corrupt nor negligent. Amen

It pleased king Darius one day to appoint 120 satraps to rule throughout his kingdom, with three administrators over them, one of whom was Daniel. The satraps were made accountable to them so that the king might not suffer loss.

Now Daniel so distinguished himself among the administrators and the satraps by his exceptional qualities that the king planned to set him over the whole kingdom. At this, the administrators and the satraps tried to find grounds for charges against Daniel in his conduct of government affairs, but they were unable to do so. They could find no corruption in him, because he was trustworthy and neither corrupt nor negligent. Finally these men said, “We will never find any basis for charges against this man Daniel unless it has something to do with the law of his God.”

Beloved, anytime a position of trust is handed to you, be determined to remain distinguished for the job; keeping in mind that several others could have been given that opportunity. It is incredible to see how people perfectly blend in with the masses any time they get the opportunity of a new level, new job, new school, higher position, etc. These people totally conform to the ills of their new position or environment. They look out for lope holes within the system to either get corrupt or remain negligent.

Daniel was different before he was appointed, in fact he was different even from his youth and decided to remain distinguished throughout the execution of his duties. He was very trustworthy; never corrupt or negligent (lazy) as his colleagues perhaps were. When they set surveillance on him to find him with error, they rather discovered that the only way to frame him up was in the area of his relationship with God; because he never compromised on that.

What about you, child of God? Do you exhibit great qualities like Daniel did? Are you as distinguished as well? Can your superiors trust you enough to set you over jurisdictions with higher responsibility because of your exceptional qualities? Think about this and begin to pray. The seed of Christ in you forbids you to be lazy, unproductive, irresponsible, negligent or corrupt. Ask for the grace to do all things from your heart as unto God; even if the odds are against.

Like Daniel, never compromise on your relationship with your God. That special bond remains your source of inspiration, direction and excellence. That is how you become distinguished among co-equals. Finally, wherever you find yourself, or in “whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the realm of the dead, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom” (Eccl 9:10). Never forget this!
