Topic: The Lifter Up of Your Head!

Text: Psalm 3: 1-8

1 O Lord how many are my foes! How many rise up against me! 2 Many are saying of me, “God will not deliver him.” 3 But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high. 4 I call out to the Lord, and he answers me from his holy mountain.

5 I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the Lord sustains me. 6 I will not fear though tens of thousands assail me on every side. 7 Arise, Lord! Deliver me, my God! Strike all my enemies on the jaw; break the teeth of the wicked. 8 From the Lord comes deliverance. May your blessing be on your people. Amen!

Here is a psalm King David wrote when his own flesh and blood (Absalom) sought his life and throne.

Sometimes, those who are to support and encourage us become the very ones who set themselves against us round about. They may be close relations, an assistant/deputy, a colleague, a best friend etc.

It becomes worse when different foes from different angles with different assignments but similar objective (i.e. to steal, kill and destroy), come together to encamp against you round about. Counting on the least opportunity to strike.

But indeed, the Lord is our shield and protector. Even in the position when our enemies thought our end had come and there was no way out for us, the Lord shows his might! He is always there, even when we know we dont deserve it.

Meditate on this word and begin to pray now. Commit every situation that burdens you into the hands of the Lord and trust in His ability to save. He shall surely hear and answer you from His holy hill.

You will lie down and sleep; and wake again, because the Lord sustains you. You will not fear though tens of thousands assail you on every side. The Lord will always rise up to your defence. He will strike all your enemies on the jaw; break the teeth of the wicked.

The Lord Jehovah is our glory, and the lifter up of our heads! No wonder we are so covered!
