Text: Hebrews 11: 17 – 19

17 By faith Abraham, when God tested him, offered Isaac as a sacrifice. He who had embraced the promises was about to sacrifice his one and only son, 18 even though God had said to him, “It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned.” 19 Abraham reasoned that God could even raise the dead, and so in a manner of speaking he did receive Isaac back from death. Amen

One day God instructs Abraham to offer His son Isaac as a sacrifice. Meanwhile it is this same God who promised Abraham earlier that through Isaac his offspring will be reckoned. Is He a contradictory God then? The answer is no.

You see while most of us would take the directive to sacrifice Isaac as an irrational demand from God or a misleading message from the devil, Abraham choose to honor it as a perfect directive from the God who loves, knows and does only that which is best for him. How did he come to such a great place of faith?

Simple! He knew His God. Abraham was not a friend of God for nothing. He had allowed the Lord to teach him His ways. HE KNEW BY FAITH THAT ONCE GOD PROMISED TO EXTEND HIS COVENANT THROUGH ISAAC, THEN THERE WAS NO WAY HE ABRAHAM WAS GOING TO LOOSE ISAAC THROUGH THIS SACRIFICE.

EVEN IF ISAAC DIED IN THE PROCESS, HE WAS SO CONVINCED THAT GOD COULD RAISE HIM FROM THE DEATH AND CONTINUE WITH ISAAC THE COVENANT HE HAD HAD WITH HIM (ABRAHAM), JUST AS HE PROMISED.

Beloved, do you now see the strong relationship between knowing God and having faith in Him. Those who know Him to be Omnipotent, Omniscient, Omnipresent and faithful, do not struggle holding on to His word by faith. They know that with God, even that which appears to be illogical, nonsensical and impossible translates as perfect grounds for miracles.

Therefore the next time the word of the Lord come to you, don’t get all logical with Him. Once He says to you “go, expect, do, say, wait or believe”, it means He has gone ahead of you to work out all things for your good. Just trust His word and obey Him every step along the way and see the wonderful blessings that will come your way.

You will not only earn His love as one who pleased the Lord (for without faith it is impossible to please God), but He will also turn the situation around with a miracle that will blow your mind forever.

Apostel Paul says “I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that He is able to guard what I have entrusted to Him until that day” (2 Him 1: 12b). This reveals that if you know Him like you say you do, you will believe Him to be able to do more than you can imagine or think. For your level of faith in Him is only a reflection of your level of knowledge of Him.

Why don’t you agree with Paul in affirming Philipians 3: 10, when he said “that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and may share His sufferings, becoming like Him in his death.”? Especially when you are aware that “the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits”(Dan 11: 32). Remember “all things are possible to them that believe” ( Mark 9: 23). See you at church.
