Your Favourite Food?

Topic: Your Favourite Food?
Text: John 4: 34.

34 Jesus said to them,“My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work. Amen.

One day Jesus sent His disciples to town to get them food. His disciples returned and were surprised to find Him talking with a woman. But no one asked, “What do you want?” or “Why are you talking with her?”

Meanwhile His disciples urged Him, “Rabbi, eat something.” But He said to them, “I have food to eat that you know nothing about.” Then His disciples said to each other, “Could someone have brought Him food?” (John 4: 32-33). “My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of Him who sent me and to finish His work.

That “food” is the spiritual nourishment that the Father gives. The satisfaction and refreshment we receive from God after we have yielded to His will and diligently obeyed it.

The purpose and will of God for our lives creates a kind of hunger, thirst and desire that is only satisfied when we remain in and accomplish the assignment. That’s why Jesus said in John 17:4, that “I brought glory to you here on earth by completing the work you gave me to do.”

Some of the nourishments we gain for our souls by remaining true to God’s word and His will in our lives are, the reward of eternal life, the manisfestation of His divine glory upon us, supernatural peace even in the midst of storms, and joy unspeakable.

Continue in the good work of the Lord therefore. Strive to achieve the will of the Father for the satisfaction of your soul. Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will grant the desires of your heart. This is the kind of “food” that never runs out in your life. The kind that is more important than the physical bread we hardly resist.
