Without Intimidation

Today’s Devotion
Topic: Without Intimidation
Text: 2 Timothy 4: 2

2 Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage — with great patience and careful instruction. Amen

Amos the prophet preached the word of the Lord without fear or favour. When Amaziah, the priest of Bethel heard Amos’ warnings, he said to Amos, “Get out, you seer! Go back to the land of Judah. Earn your bread there and do your prophesying there. Don’t prophesy anymore at Bethel, because this is the king’s sanctuary and the temple of the kingdom.” (Amos 7: 1- 13)

Amos answered Amaziah, “I was neither a prophet nor the son of a prophet, but I was a shepherd, and I also took care of sycamore-fig trees. 15 But the LORD took me from tending the flock and said to me, ‘Go, prophesy to my people Israel.’ 16 Now then, hear the word of the LORD.” (Amos 7: 14 – 16a)

Beloved in Christ, this devotion is not to the pastor or evangelist alone, but to all of us called out of darkness and commissioned to spread the gospel to the corners of the earth. We must endeavour to speak nothing but the very words received from God.

Always share the word of God with great patience and careful instruction. Do not be intimated in any way by those who do not enjoy your message. Neither should you let anyone despise you because you are a youth. But set an example for believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and purity (1 Tim 4:12).

Like Amos, always remember where you were till God called and commissioned you with His words to speak. Remember how you didn’t even deserve this grace that found and imparted you with salvation. Tell it to those who intimidate you from sharing God’s word. Tell them how unqualified you were of God’s calling if not for His Mercy.

Now, you speak His word in honour of His name and as a token of your love for the wonderful love He has shown you. Reject the attempts by man to push and toss you to places God has not called you. Stick to the dictates of Christ. What He says is only what you will do; where He sends is exactly where you go.

Begin to pray for the spirit of boldness to preach the Word of Christ. His word in your mouth today, is salvation to another man living in darkness. Oh! if only you would speak out without intimidation, their lives will be changed for His glory, and they too will spread His word everywhere they go. HIS WORD MUST INCREASE!
