Why Have You Come?

Today’s Devotion
Topic: Why Have You Come?
Text: Luke 6: 17- 19

17 He went down with them and stood on a level place. A large crowd of His disciples was there and a great number of people from all over Judea, from Jerusalem, and from the coastal region around Tyre and Sidon, 18 who had come to hear Him and to be healed of their diseases. Those troubled by impure spirits were cured, 19 and the people all tried to touch Him, because power was coming from Him and healing them all. Amen

Jesus was not as inaccessible as some of our pastors are today. He had God as bodyguard and not an elaborate security detail to keep the people from coming to Him.

Every day He did His best to go as far with the gospel; and everywhere He went, crowds followed. According to vrs 18 of our text today, these people come to HEAR HIM AND TO BE HEALED OF THEIR DISEASES.

What about you dear friend? Why are you yearning to encounter the Saviour Jesus at church today?

Think about this, because you must have a desire and an expectation. It’s very important. There is no better desire in encountering Jesus than to hear His word. All you ever wanted is in the Word; the love, peace, deliverance, breakthrough, healing and salvation.

Those who will hear Him receive salvation through the Holy Spirit’s conviction of the soul. Those who will hear Him invariably receive their healing. And this include the many who are TROUBLED by impure spirits too.

You see, most of us may not necessarily be sick in the body but simply troubled by demons who advance various attacks on every side. The consequences of these attacks manifest as bad dreams of demonic initiations and spiritual marriages, depression, suicidal voices urging us to end it all, frustrating events knocking us off anytime we are to breakthrough etc. etc.

However, AT THE SOUND OF HIS VOICE, all hell goes helter-skelter, together with the impure spirit that plague you. They run out with speed till the children of light are free indeed to serve their God.

Therefore, prepare your heart and mind in prayer about today’s service. Your own blessings and deliverance must not pass you by. Pray also for Every Minister and church worker too. It must be Jesus working through them not their abilities.

Finally come against the plans of the enemy concerning the service. He must have no hold in our gatherings. We gather in the name of the Lord Jesus so HE PROMISES to be there.

Remember that many will try to touch the Lord by offering their all upon the altar in adoration, humble prayer and fervent praise. Don’t be left out at all because as they do all that, power comes from Him (Jesus) to heal them all with ten thousand blessings beside.

See you at church today. The whole time you are there, remind yourself why you have come so that instead of being a Martha who worried about many things, you will choose the best part like Mary did (read Luke 10: 38- 42). The Lord is about doing great things in your life today. You will never return the same!
