Who is like unto Thee?

Today’s Devotion
Topic: Who is like unto Thee?
Text: Exodus 15: 11

Who is like unto Thee, O LORD, among the gods? who is like Thee; glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders? Amen

Unfortunately, people worship some other deities as “gods”. They claim to possess power to do all which THE ALMIGHTY GOD DOES and so people believe them. But how can an evil spirit dwelling in a stone, river, craven image or work of art ever compare with JEHOVAH GOD? The difference is known, the evidence is clear, the facts are obvious, the truth remains unchanged: THERE’S NO GOD LIKE JEHOVAH!

When Eli was advanced in age, his two sons together with all Israel sinned against the Lord. The Philistines then attacked and captured the ark of the Lord (which represented the presence of God).

“1 After the Philistines had captured the ark of God, they took it from Ebenezer to Ashdod. 2 Then they carried the ark into Dagon’s temple and set it beside Dagon.

3 When the people of Ashdod rose early the next day, there was Dagon, fallen on his face on the ground before the ark of the Lord! They took Dagon and put him back in his place. 4 But the following morning when they rose, there was Dagon, fallen on his face on the ground before the ark of the Lord! His head and hands had been broken off and were lying on the threshold; only his body remained.

5 That is why to this day neither the priests of Dagon nor any others who enter Dagon’s temple at Ashdod step on the threshold. 6 The Lord’s hand was heavy on the people of Ashdod and its vicinity; he brought devastation on them and afflicted them with tumors.

7 When the people of Ashdod saw what was happening, they said, “The ark of the God of Israel must not stay here with us, because His hand is heavy on us and on Dagon our god.” (1 Samuel 5: 1- 7)

“Dagon” could not stand all night long where the ark of the Lord was. He willingly fell prostate before our God. When his ignorant worshippers erected his image again, he knew they had just put him in trouble. By the next morning, the power of GOD’S PRESENCE had pulled Dagon face down without head and hands. That’s right!

You see, over 2,700 years ago, the mighty Jehovah threw a challenge in Isaiah 44: 7 “Who then is like me? Let him proclaim it. Let him declare and lay out before me what has happened since I established my ancient people, and what is yet to come – yes, let them foretell what will come”. Guess what, none has showed up yet!!

Rejoice therefore and be confident in this assurance; WE ARE SERVING A LIVING GOD. MORE POWERFUL THAN WHAT PEOPLE SAY. Surely, His goodness and mercies shall follow us all the days of our lives. Do not fear what the others threaten to do, YOUR GOD IS STRONGER! Click and be blessed: https://youtu.be/NnPmws5X-IY
