Wall Of Fire

Topic: Wall Of Fire

Text: Zechariah 2: 1- 5

1 Then I looked up, and there before me was a man with a measuring line in his hand. 2 I asked, “Where are you going?” He answered me, “To measure Jerusalem, to find out how wide and how long it is.”

3 While the angel who was speaking to me was leaving, another angel came to meet him 4 and said to him: “Run, tell that young man, ’Jerusalem will be a city without walls because of the great number of people and animals in it.

5 And I myself will be a wall of fire around it,’ declares the LORD, ’and I will be its glory within.’ Amen

Protection is very important to each of us. If it was only to do with the physical (as in flesh and blood), we wouldn’t have a lot of problems. This is because human intelligence keeps developing advanced security systems, complex combat strategies, and sophisticated weapons just to boost our chances of better security against all the odds that may rise against us.

But what about the terror of the night and the arrows that fly by day, also the pestilence that stalks in darkness and the plague that destroys at midday? (Ps 9: 5-6). How do we combat principalities, powers, the rulers of the darkness of this age and spiritual hosts of wickedness in high places, with human strategies? It shan’t hold because our wrestle is not against flesh and blood!

That is why it is very comforting to know that the Lord graciously offers Himself as a WALL OF FIRE around us. With a tape measure He has measured us in and out to ascertain how ‘wide and long’ we are.

The results of His measuring tape proves a great deal of untapped potential and unfulfilled purpose in us; with talents and gifts yet to be harnessed for His glory. He decides then that He (Himself) will be a WALL OF FIRE AROUND US. Protecting us day and night from evil.

Not just that, He will also be the glory within our walls. That means, He will be the power within, that inspires our lives to godliness and hard work; till we are filled with His glory for excellence.

What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? (Rom 8: 31). If the Lord remains our covering, which demon can prevail against us? Begin to pray for yourself and your household. Ask the Lord to be A WALL OF FIRE AROUND YOU AND THE GLORY WITHIN, A PILLAR OF CLOUD BY DAY AND A PILLAR OF FIRE BY NIGHT.

No weapon fashioned against you shall prosper! God is the STRONGHOLD of your life, of whom shall you be afraid? (Ps 27: 1b).
