The VALUE Of The Vessel Is The OIL!

Topic: The VALUE Of The Vessel Is The OIL!
Text: 2 Kings 4:3- 4

Elisha said, “Go around and ask all your neighbors for empty jars. Don’t ask for just a few. Then go inside and shut the door behind you and your sons. Pour oil into all the jars, and as each is filled, put it to one side.” Amen

A widow of a prophet had gone to Elisha for help. Her need was that, her husband; a prophet, did not settle the debts he owed before he died and for that reason, the creditor was coming for her sons as slaves.

“What do you have in your house?”, the prophet asked her. “Just a little oil”, she answered. So Elisha asked her to collect empty jars from her neighbors, as many as she could collect. And fill them with the little oil she had. That little was going to miraculously continue to pour, until there was no other container to fill.

The widow did exactly as the prophet had instructed her. When all the jars were full, she said to her son, “Bring me another one.” But he replied, “There is not a jar left.” Then the oil stopped flowing. She went and told the man of God, and he said, “Go, sell the oil and pay your debts. You and your sons can live on what is left.”

IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE:

1. AVAILABILITY: The oil, just like the power of God, never ceases to flow until there are no more willing people to fill. As long we are available for God’s use the oil or anointing of God fills us up in an amazing way.

So that these lives that were once without use and wasting in idleness, suddenly become enriched by the divine oils it contains. Remember, the value of the oil is priceless. Able to redeem both the vessel and all others around, from the debt of sin they can not pay and the subsequent punishment of slavery that is to follow.

The priceless value of the oil again helps our living, even when we have become debt free. It is the special gift of God for all who desire the life of God.

2. THE JAR MUST COME IN EMPTY TO BE FILLED: Precious One, did you notice how the prophet instructed the widow to go for empty jars only? In a like manner, for the spirit of God to fill us, we need to empty ourselves of all pride, bitterness, lust, envy, malice unforgiveness and everything else contrary to the nature of the Holy Lord.

This oil, so precious and divine, does not mix at all with the impure. That combination is detestable to all and with no desirable effect or value whatsoever. “If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and ready for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work. Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.” (2 Timothy 2: 21- 22)

CONCLUSION:
The jar owners released them for the widow only because the jars were free (available) and empty. In like manner for the anointing of God to come upon us, we will have to declare our availability for His work and ask that He empties us of SELF.

In our world where everyone seems too occupied for God, claiming to have no time to read the word, no time for prayer, no time for fellowship and no time to evangelize. Will you be different? Both empty and available for His use? Remember beloved, it is the oil that gave the jars a price value. It is also the spirit of God that can add value to your life. Begin to pray now. Ask the Lord to fill your vessel once again.

Make the Lord the treasure you seek, and lay your life before Him. Click: https://youtu.be/C7awua3x2uc
