The Signs Must Follow Us Not Us, The Signs!

Topic: The Signs Must Follow Us Not Us, The Signs!
Text: Mark 16: 17 -18

17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18 they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.” Amen

Just before our Lord Jesus ascended to heaven, He urged His disciples to carry the goodnews across the world. Those who will believe and are baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned (Mark: 16:16). And that the above signs will follow those of us who will believe their message.

Not very sure if you have noticed, but what we see lately is quite the opposite. Many of us follow after these signs and wonder where ever we hear or see them manifest. We move from prophet to prophet, “prayer-house” to “prayer- house” in search of the miracles that should be following us everywhere we go.

Do you remember from Acts 10: 38, “how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how He went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with Him”, it seems that kind of manifestation of God’s power has been limited to only some few Pastors and Prophets; and not all who believe as the opening text suggests.

Could this be because those few Men of God have refused to preach the goodnews about Christ so that the people might believe in Him, and are rather drawing attention unto themselves? Are the Pastors rather the ones believing and getting baptized, on behalf of the large crowds who gather at their prayer meetings? Do the people in the crowd receive and believe the word of God too, or they come around the Pastor for signs and wonders sakes?

These questions are necessary because if the believe is “in the name of the Lord” then signs and wonders are to follow us everywhere we go. However if our faith is rather in the name of the Man of God, then we will be chasing after signs and wonders, and only God knows whether we would ever catch and keep them active in our lives without the Word.

Therefore, if you have accepted the Lord Jesus as your Lord and have been baptized in Him, then simple trust His word to heal, save and deliver. In His name all the demons attacking you must bow; with your bear hands you will pick snakes, heal the sick and move mountains.

Begin to pray now. Ask for grace to strengthen your walk with the Lord so that He will magnify all these signs in your life, family and ministry.

Why should you be chasing that which has been ordained to follow you, it’s an error. Signs and wonders are rather to follow us wherever we go. The Lord’s goodness and mercies too, are also to follow us all the days of our lives. That sounds like the victorious life Jesus promised those who believe in His name. Live it to the honor of our risen King, JESUS! God bless you.
