The Prayer Of Jude

Today’s Devotion
Topic: The Prayer Of Jude
Text: Jude 2

“Mercy, peace and love be yours in abundance.” Amen

One day Jude, a man who called himself a servant of our Lord Jesus Christ and a brother to James, wrote to some believers saying, “Mercy, peace and love be yours in abundance.”

His message was not to everyone. According to Jude 1, his message was:

a) To those who have been called. These are those who had wandered away in sin and misery till they heard the voice of the Saviour calling, and did not hesitate. These individuals have accepted the Lord as Master and personal Saviour. Called from darkness into the Saviour’s marvelous light, they do not live for themselves anymore, but for He who died so they might live.

b) To those who are loved in God the Father. It is from much love that the Father gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish. His love for mankind is immeasurable and everlasting, especially to those who accept Him as Father. In love, Jehovah keeps and cares for them in everything and in everyway.

c) To those who are kept for Jesus Christ. You remember Jesus said in John 10: 27-28 that, “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; NO ONE WILL SNATCH THEM OUT OF MY HAND.” He also said in John 6: 39- 40 that, “this is the will of Him who sent Me, that I shall lose none of all those He has given me, but raise them up at the last day. For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in Him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.”

So these are the people Jude addressed his letter to. And His prayer for them was that mercy, peace and love be theirs in abundance. Halleluyah!

MERCY is compassion or forgiveness shown towards someone whom it is within one’s power to punish or harm. Peace is freedom from disturbance; tranquillity. Love is the strong feeling of affection or the great interest and pleasure we have for someone or something.

As we begin this new but last month of the year, coupled with the events of Ghana’s elections, and Christmas, MAY GOD MAGNIFY ALL THE ABOVE IN US IN JESUS’ NAME. That His mercy will show compassion even when we are most undeserving. That His peace that surpasses all understanding will be our portion in all that we do. And finally, that His love, feeling, interest, pleasure and affection towards us will compel ours in reciprocity, and for mankind too.

Begin to pray now. Ask God to make the above your portion in Jesus’ mighty name. This must be your best month in the year 2016 in Jesus’ mighty name! Remain blessed.
