Topic: The “Meddler” Will Suffer!
Text: Proverbs 26:17

17 Like one who grabs a stray dog by the ears, is someone who rushes into a quarrel not their own. Amen

It is true that “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God” (Mat 5: 9). But some people are not in other people’s situation to promote peace, but to promote their interest. An interest that either establishes them as better than the begrudging parties, or gains them information to spread abroad people’s personal struggles and challenges. THESE CAN NOT BE CALLED PEACEMAKERS, THEY ARE JUST “MEDDLERS” AND “MEDDLERS” SUFFER!

Why? Because human beings are as complicated as the world. A misunderstanding that seems to spring forth from an offended party may have roots deeper than the sea.

A peacemaker has no side. He or she steps in not on their own but as a representative of God. They listen to both parties, encourage forgiveness and pray with the grudging parties for divine solution and reconciliation.

But a meddler just jumps into what he or she does not understand and begins to take sides; just like one who grabs a stray dog by the ear. It will bite you mercilessly.

The stray dog has no manners and grooming. It has no owner and it does not desire one. It tends for and defends itself in the lonely streets just to survive. It has no friends nor desires to be anyone’s pet. If you touch any part of it, it will readily bite you.

Do not rush into a quarrel that is not your own. Unless as a peacemaker, not a busybody who could use that as another opportunity to gather information for gossip. You will be so caught up in the situation even when the fighting parties are at peace with each other.

You will pay the consequences of any decision taken only to feed your ego and not for the righteousness of God. Begin to pray now. Pray for a discerning heart. One that desires that all men live with love for the Lord our God and love for one another.

Become a peacemaker today; your brother’s keeper, not a judgmental “meddler” whose only interest is to promote SELF RIGHTEOUSNESS OR SELF GLORY. Those people get entangled and suffer casualties that are heavier than that of the conflicting parties. Think carefully about this.
