The Good Old Days!

Topic: The Good Old Days!
Text: Ezra 3: 11- 12

11 With praise and thanksgiving they sang to the LORD: “He is good; His love to Israel endures forever.” And all the people gave a great shout of praise to the LORD, because the foundation of the house of the LORD was laid.12 But many of the older priests and Levites and family heads, who had seen the former temple, wept aloud when they saw the foundation of this temple being laid, while many others shouted for joy. Amen

The blessings of God remains with us all in several ways. Yet disaster may arise, either due to the carelessness of our hearts or the unanticipated storms of life.

Those that find themselves in such a difficult position may also have the challenge of starting all over again. And that is tough.

We often see such new beginnings as unfortunate, and are tempted to compare with the achievements of the past and feel dejected. When we lost a better job for this menial one, we feel disappointed both in life and in God. One look at our newly born child and we begin to weep over the one that died some years back. We unconsciously begin to yearn for our past life, and fail to appreciate God for the humble begins and opportunity to rise up again.

As all Israel praised and rejoiced that the foundation for the new temple has atleast been laid, the aged in Israel began to weep as they compared the new foundation to the old. To them the old was much better.

Beloved, do not be like the aged of Israel in the days of Ezra. Atleast be both glad and grateful hat the foundation has been laid. For the hand that has started the new things in you shall surely bring it to a successful end.

“Do not say “why were the old days better than these? For it is not wise to ask such questions”….(Ecclesiastes 7: 10).

The Lord is able to repay you for the years the locusts have eaten and you will have plenty to eat. Never again will you be ashamed.. (Joel 2:25-26). For “the glory of this present house will be greater than the glory of the former house,’ says the LORD Almighty. ‘And in this place I will grant peace,’ declares the LORD Almighty” (Haggai 2: 9).

Look to Jesus for strength and grace. He that has began a new thing shall bring it to an expected end. He is the God of many chances, He restores your now, better than your Before. Begin to pray now. Click: https://youtu.be/JmFUErUxsXc
