Topic: The Best Invitation Ever!

Text: Isaiah 65: 8

8 This is what the Lord says: “As when juice is still found in a cluster of grapes and people say, ‘Don’t destroy it, there is still a blessing in it,’ so will I do on behalf of my servants; I will not destroy them all. Amen

One day Jehovah God expressed His disappointments in Israel when He said to Isaiah: “I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me; I was found by those who did not seek me. To a nation that did not call on my name, I said, ‘Here am I, here am I.’

“All day long I have held out my hands to an obstinate people, who walk in ways not good, pursuing their own imaginations— a people who continually provoke me to my very face, offering sacrifices in gardens and burning incense on altars of brick; (To a people) who say (to me), ‘Keep away; don’t come near me, for I am too sacred for you!’ (Is 65: 1-3, 5a)

“See, it stands written before me: I will not keep silent but will pay back in full; I will pay it back into their laps— both your sins and the sins of your ancestors,” says the Lord.
“Because they burned sacrifices on the mountains and defied me on the hills, I will measure into their laps the full payment for their former deeds.” (Is 65: 6-7).

Beloved from the above we can clearly realise how displeased the Lord is as we keep disregarding all His generous efforts to make us His own. Mercies so undeserving He makes available everyday so that we may turn from our sinful ways and seek Him. Yet we reject Him and choose our own path. Now the Lord is saying He will not keep silent anymore but is going to pay back in full.

But are we all going to perish in this wrath that is coming on the sons of disobedience? Certainly not! As a matter of fact, this is what the Lord says: “As when juice is still found in a cluster of grapes and people say, ‘Don’t destroy it, there is still a blessing in it,’ so will I do on behalf of my servants; I will not destroy them all. I will bring forth descendants from Jacob, and from Judah those who will possess my mountains; my chosen people will inherit them, and there will my servants live. Sharon will become a pasture for flocks, and the Valley of Achor a resting place for herds, for my people who seek me.”(Isaiah 65:10)

“But as for you who forsake the Lord and forget my holy mountain, who spread a table for Fortune and fill bowls of mixed wine for Destiny, I will destine you for the sword, and all of you will fall in the slaughter; for I called but you did not answer, I spoke but you did not listen. You did evil in my sight and chose what displeases me.”

“Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: “My servants will eat, but you will go hungry; my servants will drink, but you will go thirsty; my servants will rejoice, but you will be put to shame. My servants will sing out of the joy of their hearts, but you will cry out from anguish of heart and wail in brokenness of spirit.” (Is 65: 8- 14).

Beloved, you have heard the word of the Lord. Why don’t you choose righteousness and live? The Lord has stretched out His loving kindness towards you this morning by giving you this second chance to become His very own. Don’t be righteous in your own eyes, receive the gift of God’s love by accepting the Lord Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Ask the Holy Spirit to indwell and in fill you so that you can live the life of Christ and escape the day of the Lord’s wrath.

Come and join the happy family today. We have the mountain of God to possess and inherit. Sharon will become a pasture for our flocks, and the Valley of Achor a resting place for our herds. A place where we never hunger nor thirst. A place where our hearts will always rejoice and sing for joy. The choice is yours today. But not really, simply choose righteousness and live! See you at church!
