Tell of His Faithfulness!

Text: Luke 8: 39b

So the man went away and told all over town how much Jesus had done for him. Amen

Jesus once sailed to the region of the Gerasenes, which is across the lake from Galilee. When He stepped ashore, He was met by a demon-possessed man from the town. For a long time this man had not worn clothes or lived in a house, but had lived in the tombs.

The moment he saw Jesus, he cried out and fell at His feet, shouting at the top of his voice, “What do you want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg you, don’t torture me!” For Jesus had commanded the impure spirit to come out of the man. Many times it had seized him, and though he was chained hand and foot and kept under guard, he had broken his chains and had been driven by the demon into solitary places.

Jesus asked him, “What is your name?” “Legion,” he replied, because many demons had gone into him. Jesus cast them out into a herd of pigs near by and they rushed down the steep bank into the lake and was drowned. Those who were tending the pigs ran off and reported it in the TOWN and COUNTRYSIDE, and the people went out to SEE what had happened.

When they came to Jesus, they found the man from whom the demons had gone out, SITTING AT JESUS’ FEET, DRESSED AND IN HIS RIGHT MIND; and they were afraid. The man from whom the demons had gone out begged to go with Him, but Jesus sent him away, saying, “return home and TELL HOW MUCH GOD HAS DONE FOR YOU.” So the man went away and told all over town how much Jesus had done for Him.

Beloved, when Jesus (Himself) tells anyone to go abroad and testify HOW MUCH GOD HAS DONE FOR HIM, then you should know that a lot has been done. When he who had a legion of demons in him gets set free, it is not enough to sit under the feet of Jesus without preaching the gospel for all to see how great the love of our Father.

Unfortunately for us, the Lord (Himself) knows how much He has done for us, so that we have no excuse. Even those who witnessed your transformation have gone to the towns and countryside, drawing crowds to come and see the Jesus who’s made you whole; how much more you; the one delivered?

See how your life changed after your encounter with Him. All the demons were cast out. Such that you who never “wore clothes” or “lived in a house” but rather ‘tombs’ (talking in spiritual terms), is now sitting at the feet of Jesus, dressed and in the right frame of mind. Where are those chains that used to bind you? Where are the sharp edges with which you cut yourself?

God has done soo much for you and your household. Don’t take it for granted. Begin to thank Him for saving you and making your life a testimony. Ask for grace to preach the gospel, and by your testimony make others aware of God’s love and faithfulness towards all, including sinners. Let them know of the SALVATION that comes with a single encounter with Jesus. They too will be made free if they will just come.

Meanwhile, as you make your way to church this morning, be determined not to return home the same way you went; except with a testimony and the passion to tell all over town, HOW MUCH JESUS HAS DONE FOR YOU! See you at church.
