Surely God is Good To Isreal.

Topic: Surely God is Good To Isreal.
Text: Psalm 73: 1

“Surely God is good to Israel, to those who are pure in heart.” Amen

Many have some questions for and about our God, if He is indeed good. They can not seem to understand why the wicked around us appear to prosper, while the people of God go through a whole lot, just to prove loyalty to God and integrity before fellow man.

King David also made a similar mistake before, when he said, “But as for me, my feet had almost slipped; I had nearly lost my foothold. For I envied the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked. They have no struggles; their bodies are healthy and strong. They are free from common human burdens; they are not plagued by human ills.” (Psalm 73: 2- 5).

The king continues, “Therefore pride is their necklace; they clothe themselves with violence. From their callous hearts comes iniquity; their evil imaginations have no limits. They scoff, and speak with malice; with arrogance they threaten oppression. Their mouths lay claim to heaven, and their tongues take possession of the earth. They say, “How would God know? Does the Most High know anything?” (vrs 6- 9, 11).

To David,“This is what the wicked are like— always free of care, they go on amassing wealth (vrs 12).” This might have bothered him a lot. Even to the point that he said to himself, “Surely in vain I have kept my heart pure and have washed my hands in innocence. All day long I have been afflicted, and every morning brings new punishments. When I tried to understand all this, it troubled me deeply till I entered the sanctuary of God; then I understood their final destiny. (vrs 13- 14, 17).

And what final destiny is that? David explains, “Surely you (God) place them on slippery ground; you cast them down to ruin. How suddenly are they destroyed, completely swept away by terrors! They are like a dream when one awakes; when you arise, Lord, you will despise them as fantasies (vrs 18- 20).”

Then he said, “Yet I am always with you; you hold me by my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory. Whom have I in heaven but YOU?And earth has nothing I desire besides YOU. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. (vrs 23- 26)

So family, kindly run and tell all who question the goodness of our Lord that HE IS INDEED “GOOD AND HIS MERCIES AND ENDURES FOREVER” (Psalm 136: 1b). Also tell the children of Isreal who are fretting about the wicked, not to despair anymore for GOD IS THE STRENGTH OF THEIR HEART AND PORTION FOREVER.

Whenever overwhelmed, they should ENTER THE SANCTUARY OF GOD. The Lord will uphold, guide and counsel them. He lifts them from glory even into Higher Glory in Jesus mighty name.

Please begin to pray now while reflecting on this song: https://youtu.be/ZwoyRtFO-EQ. Always remember that, “The Lord is near to all who call upon Him. To those who call upon Him in truth. He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him; He also will hear their cry and save them. He preserves all who love Him, But all the wicked He will destroy.” (Psalm 145: 18- 20).
