Still, Honour God As Holy (Part 2)

Today’s Devotion
Topic. Still, Honour God As Holy (Part 2)
Text: Numbers 20: 12

12 But the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not trust in me enough to honor me as holy in the sight of the Israelites, you will not bring this community into the land I give them. Amen

Yesterday we laid the foundation to understanding the circumstances that made Moses not enter the promise land. Today we want to delve deeper into how the Lord responded to Moses’ disobedience. For now let us explore the first two sentences and conclude tomorrow with the last two.

i. YOU DID NOT TRUST ME ENOUGH: God expected Moses to know by then that, although the people were difficult, they were not beyond His ability to handle them. Definitely, He (God) had a plan and wanted Moses to trust that He knew what He was doing. It was He who had kept them those many years as wanderers so He can soften their hardened hearts and prove Himself as God.

These difficult people to lead, were still God’s chosen race based on His covenant with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. So that, even if they were difficult to handle, that was for the Lord to “bother” about, not Moses.

Sometimes when the pressure is on, let us not forget that God is still in control. Let’s not take things in our own hands and do what we please, just because we are upset.

ii. TO HONOR ME AS HOLY: God expected Moses to take Him at His Word and implement it to the latter. He is the Lord God Almighty. One who is highly exalted and lifted up. All His ways are just and pure… HE IS HOLY.

Those of us who seek to walk with Him, must learn to give Him His place as God all the time, even if we “do not agree” with Him and “think He is wrong”. We must honor the sanctity of His Holy Name.

You see, as Moses and Aaron prayed for a solution, the glory of the Lord filled the place, signifying His unique presence and representing His keen interest in the issue at hand. Moses could have picked a clue from that, just to do according to the word of the Lord. But He did not honor God as Holy, he did what his “frustrations” told him to do.

Reflect on all the above and begin to pray now. Ask for grace to make the word of God priority in your life. REMEMBER, IT REMAINS OUR DUTY TO TRUST GOD AND HONOR HIS NAME AS HOLY; NO MATTER WHAT THE PERSONAL SENTIMENTS SHALL BE! Click: https://youtu.be/mP58WeNyX0E
