Spotted From Afar

Topic: Spotted From Afar
Text: Genesis 37: 18- 20

18 But they saw him in the distance, and before he reached them, they plotted to kill him. 19 “Here comes that dreamer!” they said to each other.

20 “Come now, let’s kill him and throw him into one of these cisterns and say that a ferocious animal devoured him. Then we’ll see what comes of his dreams.” Amen

To every genuine thing, there exist its counterfeit. The devil will always want to have a counterfeit of whatever God does.

In Acts 8:4-25, as Philip was performing miraculous signs, casting out evil spirits and healing the sick, a man named Simon, a sorcerer was also performing similar signs and wonders using magical powers.

The devil always wants to prove to us that he knows us more than we, or even God does. That is a huge lie! In tempting Jesus, he asked; “if you are the son of God….”. Interestingly, the devil spoke as if he knew the beginning and the end of the Mesaiah. But if really he knew Jesus will be given a name above every name, the devil would not have aided His crucifixion.

The devil might have spotted something good in you to destroy as Joseph’s brothers did from afar, but he never knows the actual processes God is taking you through to get there.

So he tries so hard to place obstacles that will destroy us on every side, hoping that by so doing, he may have crushed God’s seed of greatness in us too. (Remember how Herod killed all babies 2 years and younger? He was hoping to kill baby Jesus before He grows and crushes his head).

But you know what? The Omniscient God, the Alpha and the Omega, the one who knew us when we were a clot of blood, He is wiser and stronger. He, by His awesome power and incredible wisdom, assures us of a glorious end.

God uses satan’s efforts to destroy us to rather toughen us and harness our potential. In the end, all the storms, battles, disappointments and tears work together for our good.

Don’t be afraid if the devil threatens you with lies as if there was no hope for your future. Ignore him! For no one knows what we will become, neither has it entered the heart of any man what God has prepared for those who love Him.

Pray for God’s absolute protection for your now and future. Pray also that every word God has spoken about you will come to pass; pray with the hymn: “Guide me Oh, Thou great Jehovah!” Kindly click, watch and be blessed: https://youtu.be/iM5JVWjZqSo
