How about “I am sorry”?

“But I did obey the LORD,” Saul said. “I went on the mission the LORD assigned me. I completely destroyed the Amalekites and brought back Agag thier king. Amen.

One day, God sent a message to the king Saul saying….. “Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy everything that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys.”

After the raid however, Saul and his men brought home the king of the Amalekites and some fatty livestocks. This greatly displeased God.

When the prophet Samuel inquired of Saul what had happened, he came up with tons of excuses as to why he spared the king and the fatty livestocks. His continual explanations only led to tearing Samuel’s robe which led to his total loss of the throne that day.

Have you not noticed how countless excuses and explanations have worsened a once peaceful situation? Maybe, you should try “I am sorry” and truely mean it. Cut the explanations and excuses. They only make matters worse.

David as a King, slept with another man’s wife and had her husband put at a forefront to be killed. When the prophet Nathan came to David with a displeasing message from God, he cried out “….I have sinned against the LORD…..” 2 Sam. 12:13.

He had punishments alright, but by cutting out the excuses and rather saying “sorry to God” becase he had disobeyed, still had his thrown.

As humans, most times all we need to do is say ” I am sorry” to one another to restore peace. To God, all we need to do is to learn to beg for forgiveness through Jesus and be saved. Jesus continues to knock at the door of your heart.

Begin to pray. Just say “I am sorry Jesus, cast me not away from your presence AND RENEW A RIGHT SPIRIT WITHIN ME!”
