Repent & Live

Today’s Devotion

Topic: Repent & Live

Text: Ezekiel 18: 31- 32

31 Rid yourselves of all the offenses you have committed, and get a new heart and a new spirit. Why will you die, people of Israel? 32 For I take no pleasure in the death of anyone, declares the Sovereign Lord. Repent and live! Amen

Sin these days has been garnished and rebranded in the name of modernity. Society has found a way of making the Word of God appear like a strict code of living upheld only by religious fanatics.

Where the word of God says “I hate divorce”, Hollywood says “it’s cool to marry as many times as you are not sure you want to”. Where the bible says “honor God with your body for it is the temple of God”, modernity says ” it is your own body; tatoo it, smoke it unto cancer, fornicate or gay with it until you achieve sexual ecstasy.

It has become very common for some young people to use fornication as the test to high sexual performance and fertility before they marry. Gays are perversing each other calling it their human “right”. Married men are cheating on their wives and calling it a “man thing”.

Where the bible says “be honest in all your doing”, society says you can cheat, evade tax and be dishonest too. So long as that gives you more advantage than your competitors and you are not caught yet, you are a good businessman!

The uncomfortable truth that we overlook is that sin produces DEATH, period! It cuts off our relationship with God and makes us vulnerable to demonic manipulation. You may ask those Hollywood stars you admire, that live for pleasure and not God, if they feel as joyous, belonged and peaceful as they appear on the screens.

The wages of sin is death (to be cut off from God). Apostle James explains that evil desire gives birth to sin and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death (James 1: 14-15).

Today, there is great news for you. Why should you die when you can live. The sovereign God says “I take no pleasure in the death of anyone, REPENT & LIVE!

Begin to pray, let us rid ourselves of all offences, ask God for a new heart and spirit; one that desires to be like Him! Repent & Live.
