Protection For All Who Will Dwell!

Today’s Devotion
Topic: Protection For All Who Will Dwell!
Text: Psalm 91: 9- 12

9 If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,” and you make the Most High your dwelling, 10 no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent. 11 For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; 12 they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. Amen

We all protect the people and things we love with our last strength. Some even take it to the next level by protecting loved ones to the last breath.

The only challenge is that the strength of man gradually fades with time. So that He who could protect and defend at the least confrontation becomes the vulnerable one who himself needs protection.

Bear in mind that even in his prime, when the strength of man is so intact, he is still limited by space. That is to say, he is not everyday and everywhere around his loved ones to protect them every time.

Even if he could, he will still be limited by the fact that he cannot protect loved ones from everything that should happen to them because his strength may not measure up to defend against all forces and confrontations; be it natural or spiritual.

All the above are exactly the reasons why we ought to make the Lord our refuge and the Most High our dwelling place. First of all, He is stronger than everybody and everything. So with Him we are safer than safe. Unlike man, His strength never fades, not even with time. He doesn’t also grow weak or vulnerable requiring any kind of protection from anyone. He is ALMIGHTY.

Secondly, the Lord is everywhere every time. Not just the geographical location you find yourself but also in your past, present and even future. He can foresee what dangers lie ahead and snatch you away unharmed even before disaster strikes.

One other beautiful thing about the Lord and His ability to protect is that the very same time He’s fighting your cause and defending you on every side, He’s doing same for all your loved ones and friends. Such a wonderful God!

Therefore encourage all who claim the Lord to be their refuge to ACTUALLY make Him their dwelling place. You see it is not enough to proclaim God as your refuge. It is best you dwell in His presence all the time. That way He will protect you from the arrows shot by the day and the terrors by night.

Soak yourself in His word, blood, service and prayer. Also, maintain a consistent fellowship with the Holy Spirit. Then you can be sure that “no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent. For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways” (Ps 91:10- 11)

Today begins a new month. Thank God for the previous and commit this new one into His hands. Ask the Lord to help you abide in His word so that His word may abide in you also. That way, He identifies with you as His child and will keep you safe and secured from all alarms.

The name of the Lord is a strong tower. He keeps safe all who run to Him and dwell. He is stronger than all who pursue you; stronger than sin, stronger than death and stronger than your fears. Abide in Him.
