Pray for us

Today’s Devotion
Topic: Pray for us
Text: 1 Thessalonians 5:25

Brothers and sisters, pray for us. Amen.

The book of 1 Thessalonians chapter 5 has some of the shortest verses in the Bible. It is a great place to start from; for anyone hoping to be able to commit Bible verses to memory.

We all like to be helped. We all desire that extra small push that makes a huge difference in the outcome of our lives’ events.

Indeed, every Christian believes that prayer is the means by which we talk to God. However, despite the availability of this powerful tool, most times in the midst of trouble, we are unable to focus our energies and pray.

This is where the extra push from brothers and sisters in the Lord is needed; the need for Christians to pray for one another. Very surprisingly, God is constantly looking out for people who will stand in prayer for other people, but He finds none.

“I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found no one.” – Ezekiel 22:30

The whole foundation of Christ is LOVE; the demonstration of selflessness to help others with no hidden motives. The world has drowned us with daily anxiety such that our attentions have been limited to focusing on our needs only.

However, somebody in real need could use our prayer. A depressed single parent could use just a few moments of our prayer. An unemployed graduate could use a little prayer you would say on his/her behalf. The sick, the hungry and the perishing soul on his/her way to hell could use just a few moments of our prayer time, to get that small extra push that will make a huge difference.

Today, let others count. Begin to pray and remember all your friends, acquaintances, family. Also remember everyone you know who surely needs the help of God in their lives. That extra push they need will always go a long way to make a huge difference in their lives. Let God find you in the gap today interceding on their belhalf.
