Perfect Peace, A Possibility?

Topic: Perfect Peace, A Possibility?

Text: Isaiah 26: 3

3. You will keep in perfect peace him whose minds is steadfast, because he trust in you. Amen

It is very common for many of us to wake up from sleep already anxious about how the new day will unfold. This is because there’s often so much that happens in a previous day, leaving much to be restless and uncertain about in a new day.

With deadlines to meet, bills to pay, tough decisions concerning the future to be made, conflicts to resolve, families to feed, political tensions and economic mismanagements; it is only expected to see people agitated by the least thing and easily compromising on peace.

So the question is, can there be anything like peace, perfect peace for that matter, in this dark world of sin? The answer is yes, because the blood of Jesus whispers peace within. He says “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16: 33).

Therefore perfect peace is possible. However, it is for those who whose minds are steadfast because they trust God and not their own abilities nor the political systems. Their source, inspiration and delight are in the law of the Lord. And on that law they meditate day and night. They become like tress planted by streams of water, which yields its fruits in season and whose leaves does not wither. WHATEVER THEY DO PROSPERS (Psalm 1: 2- 3).

“So do not worry, saying, ‘what shall we eat?’ or ‘what shall we drink?’ or ‘what shall we wear?’. For the pagans run after these things, and your heavenly Father knows that they need them. But seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well” (Mat 6: 31- 33).

“A double minded man is unstable in all his ways” (James 1: 8), “therefore strengthen the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees, 13 and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be dislocated, but rather be healed.14 Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord” (Heb 12: 12- 14).

Trust in the Lord and He will give you peace, perfect peace. Even when the future is all unknown? Yes, because Jesus we know, and He is still on the throne.

Begin to pray now, “being anxious about nothing, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Phil 4: 6-7).
