Marvelous!

Today’s Devotion
Topic: Marvellous!
Text: Psalm 118: 22- 23 (NASB)

22 The Stone the builders rejected has become the capstone. 23 This is the LORD’S doing; It is marvellous in our eyes. Amen

Let us remind ourselves of a basic truth we often delibrately forget: If salvation was for sale, most of us could never afford it in a life time. Sin had rendered our souls poor and wretched with no hope of salvation.

No one could save us. In fact, no one could even care half as much. Deep inside was this void that would not be satisfied, no matter what we did to find satisfaction.

Jesus appeared right on time and exchanged His glorious life for our wretched souls. He took our place and died to give us life. So that the sinner, once condemned unclean, is declared free of all guilty charges. Not by merit or good deeds though, but by grace through faith.

Now we can leap and rejoice because the iron chains are all broken. The sacrifice of the cross has not only been useful for the salvation of our souls, but has also restored a sense of dignity and purpose in us. Now we who were the outcast of society have become the capstone. We are seen to be the perfect cornerstone without which no building is completely secured. Is this not marvellous?

Even now that we are saved, bible encourage us to be strong even when we feel weak. When men see our faults, God sees our accomplishments. Even the good work He Himself has begun in us, He also sees our finish. Not half done, but completely made whole in Him. How come we forget this and act like we are able to save and sustain ourselves? Who does such a marvellous things but God?

See how He keeps the family safe and saved by grace; how He answers all our prayers by grace; how He raises us up whenever we fall; how He fights our battles and wins all; how He opens undeserved doors for us;  how He loves us and remains committed to that love even when we fail. This is the doing of the Lord and it is marvellous in our eyes.

Therefore, tell the redeemed of the Lord to say so. We must celebrate our Lord more today than we always do. Begin to praise. Give Him all the glory, for the things He’s done. See you at church.
