Topic: Letter To Parents Concerning The Girl Child!
Text: Leviticus 19: 29 (KJV)

29 Do not prostitute thy daughter, to cause her to be a whore; lest the land fall to whoredom, and the land become full of wickedness. Amen

According to the dictionary, a prostitute is a person, typically a woman, who engages in sexual activity for payment. This definition is probably a little different from the popular perception on prostitution.

First of all it doesn’t limit itself to the kinds of sexual activities the prostitute is likely engages in; that means she may be required to do different things (sex related) to satisfy her “patrons”. Secondly the type of payment she receives is not limited to money as the popular perception is. It could be anything she agrees to as payment for her services. From call phone credits to mobile phones; from dresses to food; from a car to a house; from the men paying her school fees to them setting her up for business; anything at all that satisfies her as payment for her services.

Thirdly, the definition of a prostitute doesn’t limit or specify a geographical location from where she should operate. She does not have to be by the road side at night to prostitute. She can prostitute even as a student who never moves out her of her campus of study, or a worker with a reputable company who does not miss a day of work. In a nut shell, a lady is prostituting once she engages in sexual activity with another for payment, even if it is with the same man.

From the above we can clearly see that many of our own friends and associates are prostituting and do not even know they are. Probably because they are not on the streets at night literally selling their bodies. But whatever sexual activity a lady engages in for payment sets her up as a whore.

The question now is, “how do parents contribute to this?” “How come the bible is cautioning parents not to prostitute their daughters?” Well, It is because charity begins at home and parents have a divine mandate to raise their wards to fear God and obey His commandments.

You see, when at a tender age a girl is not shown enough affection from family, she’s likely to crave it elsewhere. Again when her basic needs are not met. It also so happens when her parents will not show concern about who her friends and aquintances are nor bother to have open sex discussions with her.

But when a girl’s parents are responsible for buying her all those “mini clothes” in the name of modern fashion and will over look her flirtatious behaviour each time she’s in the company of men; then there is a serious problem. It is worse if a parent will look on unconcerned while their daughter “twerks” at dancing competitions or catwalk in front of men for unnecessary attention.

You see, when a girl’s parents allow for all the above and would not even question the source of all the material things she brings home but rather encourage her to get more for her siblings, then they have nurtured some bad seed in her. The next thing to expect is that she will grow up into a lifestyle that makes prostituting very easy for her even if she appears to be a “responsible and decent” student or worker.

The word of God to us this morning is very emphatic. If parents do not sit up and raise daughters who fear and honor God with their bodies but rather go on to prostitute them, then the land will fall to WHOREDOM and become filled with wicknedness. Meditate on this word and begin to pray. You have a responsibility to God as a parent to train your children the way that they should go, so that when they grow, they do not depart from it (Prov 22: 6). Ask for grace and wisdom to nurture them for the glory of God.

If you happen to be a lady who engages in sexual activity for some kind of payments, repent now and ask for grace to offer the body as a living sacrifice to God. They rest of us can pray for the men (young and old) who pay one way or the other to have sexual activities with ladies of all walks of life. It is perversion and there’s a need to repent from it. Finally, let us pray for the land; that the Lord will cleanse it from perversion and that the fear of God will fill the hearts of its people, all of us, so we can live lives that please the Lord.

Tomorrow will be an open letter to the youth.
