Topic: Keep Pushing On

Text: Romans 7:19
For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing.
By nature, things just tend to follow the path of least resistance. A good example is, rivers always flow around a mountain rather than through it. In other words, we tend to do that which is easiest, often to the neglect of that which is best.
It is easier to tell a lie to get out of a situation than to speak the truth and endure shame. It is easy to have a 1-hour phone conversation that to have intimacy with God through prayer.
The Apostle Paul in his rather sad documentation, tells of how he  would rather live in good than to become a slave to sin but finds himself doing the evil that he hates.
Many of us can relate to how many times we have promised God to put an end to an unholy behavior but would find ourselves back to that sin just moments after.
In John 6:63 “The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you–they are full of the Spirit and life”, it can be seen that our human efforts always amounts to nothing. It is evident that our ability to dwell in righteousness is in our availability to be influenced by the spirit of God.
So, begin to pray and spend some time in the presence of God learning about His word and receiving wisdom on how to overcome sin and evil. His grace is sufficient for you, for His power is made perfect in weakness. “No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God’s seed abides in him; and he cannot keep on sinning, because he has been born of God.” (1 John 3: 9, ESV).
