House Of Prayer!

Today’s Devotion
Topic: House Of Prayer!
Text: Mat 21: 13

13 “It is written,” He said to them, “’My house will be called a house of prayer,’ but you are making it ’a den of robbers.’ ” Amen

One day Jesus enters Jerusalem and the whole city stirs up. “Who is this?” They asked. The crowds answered, “This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee.” He made His way straight to the temple courts and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves.

“It is written,” He said to them, “’My house will be called a house of prayer,’ but you are making it ’a den of robbers.’ ”

Precious One, a house provides shelter and accommodation. It is the place we dwell and keep most of our possessions. We plan each day from the house and then set off to implement. By the close of day, we rush back to the house to rest, refresh and spend time with family and the people we love. Such a wonderful place must be kept peaceful and heavenly so that all who enter in can come to terms with their lives, regaining all lost strength for the next day’s activity.

The house of God, Jesus warns, must be a house of prayer. What about your own house beloved? Have you also made your house a place for prayer? Or have you consciously or unconsciously allowed the “chief robber” (satan) and his demons in, to turn your house into a place of chaos and a den of thieves? Think about it.

Prayer ushers in the presence of God. It ensures total human surrender and allows God to have dominion. Jesus said in Matthew 6: 9- 10 that “this, then, is how you should PRAY: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, YOUR WILL BE DONE, ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN.”

Beloved do you see from the scripture above how prayer definitely ensures that the WILL OF GOD IS DONE in every situation just as it has been ordained to be from heaven? It means where you allow a lot of prayer in your house, the will of God is established without fail. His blessings remain on you and your household, His word guides your steps and the blood of Christ serves as a covering from all the plans of evil against you.

However, if you do not saturate your house with prayer, the enemy will set in and turn that same house into a den of thieves. Where demons and satanic agents ensure that things are done contrary to the will and plan of God for your life. You will see blessings being robbed, children going wayward, peace, unity and joy being compromised, and a lot of “buying and selling” going on spiritually against your life.

The choice is yours Beloved. Which one will it be: A house of prayer or den of thieves? Joshua made a good choice when he said, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord” (Josh 24: 15b). This doesn’t come automatically. We conciously discipline ourselves to make prayer an integral part of the household routine. We must have time to teach the children how to pray, encourage every guest to join in too and intercede for all the members of the household even when we know they are praying too. The presence of God must fill every heart and space in the house; THAT’S THE IDEA.

Also, by prayer, kick the devil out of your home, give him no room to operate. Overturn evil tables upon which spiritual trading of your blessings, marriage and progress take place. By prayer, allowing nothing to prevail except for the will of God.

So begin to pray now. Make your house THE HOUSE OF GOD, by allowing consistent prayer day in and out. Remember, the ark of the LORD (which represents the presence of God) remained in the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite for three months, and the LORD blessed him and his entire household ( 2 Sam 6: 11).

Blessings abound wherever He reigns. Let Jesus reign in your house NOW!
