Text: Ezra 8: 21- 23

21 There, by the Ahava Canal, I proclaimed a fast, so that we might humble ourselves before our God and ask Him for a safe journey for us and our children, with all our possessions.

22 I was ashamed to ask the king for soldiers and horsemen to protect us from enemies on the road, because we had told the king, “The gracious hand of our God is on everyone who looks to Him, but his great anger is against all who forsake Him.”

23 So we fasted and petitioned our God about this, and He answered our prayer. Amen

Ezra, the scribe, had always told of the Lord to the foreign king whom He served that “the gracious hand of the Lord is on everyone who looks to Him.” And His testimony is true.

But now he and most exiled Israelites returning back home are faced with the reality of the dangers of such a voyage. Especially for the women and children.

Ezra could easily ask the king for soldiers and horsemen to protect them from enemies on the road, but he did not. Simply because he had preached to the king well enough about the abilities of our God. NOW WAS THE TIME TO LIVE BY FAITH, THE WORD HE PREACHES. He had to demonstrate to all that what He says about our God is true. So by the Ahava canal, he proclaimed a fast and God answered their prayer.

Sometimes we must take steps of faith to let the unbelieving world see that our God is real. We should be careful not to run to the world for solution when we have always preached that JESUS is the only solution.

All who claim to know God as the ALL SUFFICIENT, must learn how to depend on Him entirely for everything.

For instance, if you run to an internet “fraudster” for financial assistance each time you run out of money, how can you hope he/she will ever take your message of repentance serious? If you cheat your way in every examination, how can you expect your unbelieving friends who helped you pass desire a relationship with your God of Knowledge and Wisdom.

People of God, we can all learn from Ezra this morning- wait on the Lord for everything. Don’t cut corners and seek the easiest way out as is the case for those who do not know Him.

In all things make your request known to the Lord. He will suddenly show up and prove not only to you, but to all who do not know Him, that HE IS, AND IS THE REWARDER OF THOSE WHO DILIGENTLY SEEK HIM.

Begin to Pray now. Lay it all at the feet of Jesus- He cares for us and He understands. Trust Him in His word and let His joy be your strength. Live His word and LIVE IN HIS WORD. He say in John 15: 7, “If you remain in Me and My words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.”

Family, let us abide in His word and bear good fruits; and watch Him show up in our every situation. He will prove Himself able and His word True; with signs and wonders as a bonus for your unwavering faith. Click: https://youtu.be/iypIXnwvcaM
