Growing Or Diminishing Faith?

Topic: Growing Or Diminishing Faith?
Text: 2 Thessalonians 1: 3- 4

3 We ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love all of you have for one another is increasing. 4 Therefore, among God’s churches we boast about your perseverance and faith in all the persecutions and trials you are enduring. Amen

What a testimonial to read about the church in Thessalonica. That the earlier Apostles thought it best and compelling to really thank God for their unwavering faith and love for one another.

They had actually become the boast of the Apostles to all the other churches because, despite their many persecutions and trials, their faith just kept increasing more and more as was their love for one another.

Dearly Beloved, today marks the beginning of a new month (the 11th in the year). Let’s retrospect and reflect on the many months that are already gone. Can we say that in this year, *OUR FAITH IN THE LORD HAS BEEN GROWING MORE AND MORE? AND WHAT ABOUT OUR LOVE FOR ONE ANOTHER?*

Do you see how we are all struggling to answer in the affirmative? Do you see how we have allowed the persecutions and trials we’ve been encountering this year, rather diminish our faith to the point where we have no confidence in our salvation anymore? Have you also noticed that our faith in God and love for one another keep waning off as the “system” makes us more and more lovers of self and money than lovers of God?

Apart from these, you would agree that there are now so many issues on the internet every day that make us question this Faith that was once all we had. And now we have become either nominal or confused.

Hoping for an educational material, you go online and all you see are fake pastors and preachers doing and demonstrating what we knew idol worshippers to do. You also chance upon many atheist trying very hard to use science, logic and “common sense theories” to confuse your faith and make you believe like them, that there is no God.

Even worst is how our love for one another is seriously being affected by the lack of transparency, honesty and sincerity in our churches and homes. We see so-called men of God at each other’s throats, and encouraging we their followers to do same. This we gladly do instead of questioning their hearts and motives.

Precious One, rise up immediately from this dunghill of “faithless” and “loveless” christianity and return to your first love. The word of God has not changed and neither are His ways. This whole time you are allowing persecutions, trials and deceit to kill your faith and love, *OTHERS ARE BEING BLESSED FOR THEIR ENDURANCE AND UNWAVERING FAITH.*

Begin to pray therefore. Ask the Holy Spirit to arise within you and shake of your doubts and excuses. There is still no other name given that we might be saved, *ONLY THE NAME OF JESUS.* He is the resurrection and life and all who receive Him, receive life everlasting.

*_”Therefore dear friends, since you already know this, be on your guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of lawless men and FALL FROM YOUR SECURED POSITION. BUT GROW IN THE GRACE AND KNOWLEDGE OF OUR LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST. TO HIM BE GLORY BOTH NOW AND FOREVER! AMEN” (2 Peter 3: 17- 18).*_
