God, Our Consuming Fire!

Today’s Devotion
Topic: God, Our Consuming Fire!
Text: Deut 9: 1- 3

1 Hear, Israel: You are now about to cross the Jordan to go in and dispossess nations greater and stronger than you, with large cities that have walls up to the sky. 2 The people are strong and tall—Anakites! You know about them and have heard it said: “Who can stand up against the Anakites?”

3 But be assured today that the Lord your God is the one who goes across ahead of you like a devouring fire. He will destroy them; he will subdue them before you. And you will drive them out and annihilate them quickly, as the Lord has promised you. Amen

They watch us in amazement and wonder why we are so confident about this New Year. Some are even trying to help us understand that it’s going to be a year, probably, tougher than before. Well, maybe, they shouldn’t even bother drawing our attention to that fact because we already know.

We know perfectly well that there are challenges stronger and taller awaiting us. And that there are Anakites who are acclaimed to be dreadful and dangerous waiting patiently to attack when we come by. We are even aware that there’s never been a year that was rosy and even now, satan will hit harder against us than he did and failed last year because he knows his time is short. We know all that.

Yet we know of something greater and more revealing. An assurance so faithful and true: THAT THE ALMIGHTY GOD GOES AHEAD OF US LIKE A CONSUMING FIRE. He will destroy them; He will subdue them all before us. By the POWER of the HOLY GHOST, we will cast them out and annihilate them quickly, just as the Lord has promised us.

This therefore is the reason for our joy and confidence- that come what may, we are overcomers through Christ. We will take possession of all that the Lord wills for us and nothing shall by any means hurt us.

So the next time they tell you to stop being confident in Christ and realistically face the fact that you may not survive the pressures of this New Year, tell them this actually is your reality: That the Almighty God goes ahead of you like a consuming fire.

You will not just survive the year, you will possess every promised blessing and also take dominion. And that there is no weapon forged against you that shall prosper in Jesus Name. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD- HALLELUYAH. Begin to pray now! Pray with the hymn: BE GONE UNBELIEF… WITH CHRIST IN THE VESSEL, I’LL SMILE AT THE STORM.
