God of Details

Today’s Devotion

Topic: God of Details

Text: Psalms 37:23

The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Amen

We all have dates and events which are special to us in one way or the other. Often, we expect that friends, relatives and loved ones would remember these days and events, and celebrate them with us to the best of their ability.

If this expectation is not met, we tend to feel that they do not care about us as much as we would want them to. This can even bring longstanding friendships and relationships to a grinding halt and sever strong family ties.

But, imagine the Creator and Sustainer of the entire universe paying very close attention to those very days and events in your life which people forget. This is the import of today’s scripture; that God Almighty pays very close attention to every detail of the lives of those who belong to Him, and plays a major role at each point in time.

Though it sounds impossible, seeing that there are so many people in the world, IT IS THE TRUTH! The God who knows and calls each star by name also knows and cares about every detail of your life.

The next time you are tempted to feel inferior or insignificant, remember the Psalmist’s words… “O Lord, you have examined my heart and know everything about me. You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts even when I’m far away. You see me when I travel and when I rest at home. You know everything I do.

“You know what I am going to say even before I say it, Lord. You go before me and follow me. You place your hand of blessing on my head. I can never escape from your Spirit! I can never get away from your presence! I could ask the darkness to hide me and the light around me to become night — but even in darkness I cannot hide from you. To you the night shines as bright as day.” (Psalm 139:1-5,7,11-12)

Beloved, begin to pray now. Rejoice that you are known and loved by God. For knowing the good in us does not draw Him any closer or push Him any further than our weaknesses do. He has always loved us and encouraged us to be better each day than the previous. What a God!
