God, Ashamed?

Topic: God, Ashamed?
Text: Hebrews 11: 16

Instead, they were longing for a better country–a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them. Amen

Doing what pleases our earthly parents makes them very proud of us. Some of us have gained the titles “mummy’s boy/girl” or “daddy’s boy/girl” because we have become their favourite by doing what pleases them. On the other hand, some parents cannot even stand being associated with their kids. In the same vain, there are a category of people of whom God is not ashamed to be called their God.

Reading the whole of Hebrews chapter 11 (popularly known among most christians as the Hall of Faith), we are presented with several individuals who served their God and nations in diverse ways. The Bible recounts that “All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance. And they admitted that they were aliens and strangers on earth. People who say such things show that they are not looking for a country of their own. Instead, they were longing for a better country–a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them.” (Hebrews 11:13,14&16)

Though these believers of old had different professions, callings, strengths and weaknesses, they had one thing in common; “the better country mindset”. They considered themselves as aliens and strangers in this world and they were determined to please God, come what may, because they had another world in view: a better country – a heavenly one.

People with this mindset always seek out ways to bring glory to God by advancing the gospel. They do not get overridden with the cares of this world and forfeit their God-given mandates. They do not fight tooth-and-nail to keep treasures on this earth by foul means. They are always conscious of the fact that they will give account of their lives one day. And God is never ashamed to be called the God of such! Instead He has prepared a better country for their rest after their lodging on this earth. He is simply very proud of such!

Beloved, do your mindset and actions shame God or make Him proud of you? Meditate on this word and make a decision to please God with your life. Click: https://youtu.be/I38W3WEJV4M
