Topic: Filled With Good Things And Rewards!

Text: Proverbs 12:14

From the fruit of his lips a man is filled with good things, as surely as the work of his hands rewards him. Amen

A careful study of the Word of God reveals several truths or principles that lead to a blessed and fulfilled life. Sometimes they sound so simple and basic that we overlook them.

One of such passages that’s so powerful yet easily overlooked is our text of reflection for the day: Proverbs 12:14. Let us try to unravel it:

i. From the fruit of his lips a man is filled with good things. When a person will, out of knowledge of the Word of God and faith, profess positive things, encourage and advice others, share the Word of God abroad, testify of the Lord’s goodness, sing His praises, pray and make intercessions for self and for others; THEN THEY WILL BE FILLED WITH GOOD THINGS.

Remember it is out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. So it is a cycle then; what we profess is what we have stored within. Implying that if what we profess is directly from the Word of God and it informs our actions too, then the blessings it brings us further fills our hearts and lives with every reason  to make even greater godly confessions that would inform our actions too. And that’s how we overcome; it is by the blood of the lamb; AND BY THE WORD OF OUR TESTIMONY. (Rev 12:11)

ii. As surely as the work of his hands rewards him: This means just as the fruits of our lips fill us up with good things, so the work of our hands brings us REWARDS. We simply cannot do one and neglect the other.

When we have prayed and confessed the Word of God; when we have sang praises and testified of the Lord’s goodness that others might believe Him; when we have preached the gospel abroad, when we have encouraged and adviced others about the issues of life; WE MUST ALSO PUT OUR HANDS TO DILIGENT WORK AND DEDICATED SERVICE. Working as unto God and not our human masters. Then the Lord will bless the works of our hands with rewards from the abundance of His household.

Beloved, meditate on this word and begin to pray. Repent from being faith-less, doubtful, lazy, full of excuses and full of negativity. Why shouldn’t God fill you with good things, and why should your labour result in loss and not rewards? Ask the Holy Ghost for the wisdom and discipline to appropriate His Word in your life — confessing them both in word and in deed, and working diligently as unto God. Your treasure of good things and rewards from the Lord will remain immeasurable and reloaded everyday.

So now, “Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise–the fruit of lips that openly profess His name (Heb 13:15); and “may the favour of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us (Ps 90: 7); In Jesus’ mighty name! Amen
