FEAR NOT

Today’s Devotion
Topic: FEAR NOT
Text: Isaiah 43: 1

But now, O Jacob, listen to the Lord who created you. O Israel, the one who formed you says, “Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. Amen

Fear may occur in response to a particular situation happening in the present, or a future situation, which is perceived as a risk to health or life, status, power, security, wealth or anything held valuable.

Our reaction to fear is expressed in 3 ways:
i. Confronting the perceived danger (Fighting).
ii. Running Away/ Hidding (Flight)
iii. In Extreme cases Freezing or Paralysis.

The modern day believer is afraid of many things. We are afraid of natural elements like darkness, thunder, lightening, death etc. We are afraid of the reptiles that crawl at night, the insects and rodents in the kitchen cupboard. We are afraid of negative spiritual force like witches, sorcerers, demons etc.

We are afraid political tensions in the sub region may lead to war. We very much afraid that the economic recession around the world may only get worse. We are always afraid that the worst will happen to us and we will lose our position.

But why are we afraid of Everyone and Everything? Is our God no longer mighty to save? “What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us who can be against us” (Romans 8: 31)

Beloved, our safety is guaranteed in Christ. He is the Solid Rock upon which we build. Don’t let fear move you places contrary to God. Allow your faith to grow by adhering to the word of God. “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7)

May the things that hitherto caused you to fear now provoke you to pray until the will of the Lord is established. Refuse to bow to fear being confident in God’s assurance that: “When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.” (Isaiah 43: 2)

Begin to pray now. Pray with the hymn “Begone Unbelief, My Savior Is Near”. Be sure to cast out every spirit of fear that intimidates you. Ask God for the spirit of Power, Love and Sound Mind. Jesus holds your life, you are SAFE!
