Continue In Him!

Today’s Devotion
Topic : Continue In Him
Text : Colossians 2:6-7 NLT

6 And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. 7 Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness. Amen

It has become a fundamental principle that, the preparations we make in anticipation of an occasion do not necessarily match up with the attitude we demonstrate after the occasion. Before the occasion, we are careful to do everything right; but can the same be said of the aftermath? Absolutely not!Things begin to take a normal or ordinary turn.

Our Christian walk suffers no different fate. After we have fulfilled a “ritual or commemorated a godly event”, we go back to the ordinary lifestyle we have always known. But the kind of life God has called us to is a lifetime of godly living not that of occasional ritual. The fellowship and intimacy He desires that we demonstrate, is an unending one, not one borne out of merely obeying and participating in Christian activities.

Our Saviour is risen from the dead. Halleluyah! He has won victory over sin and death. He has reinstated us to our rightful place before God. We proclaim all these truthful confessions and firmly accept them, but now is the time to continue in them and in Christ. You see, the celebration of an occasion should not override the purpose of the celebration itself. Easter goes beyond celebrations. The Good News? Yes, Christ is risen from the dead and it’s time for us to rise up and live for Jesus.

The fasting and prayers during the Lent season do not end after Easter Monday. It’s time to let our roots grow deeper into God. Now is the time to display Christ in all we do to the “observant and watching” world.

“I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead. I want to suffer with him, sharing in his death, so that one way or another I will experience the resurrection from the dead.”(Philippians 2:10-11). This was Apostle Paul’s desire,  and it should be ours as well. Let us continue to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. As we do this, we will experience the mighty power that raised Jesus from the dead working wonders in our lives.

Begin to pray now; that after all is said and done, you will be found firmly rooted in Christ, living your life to please Him alone. Jesus is coming soon.
