Concerns Of God! (Part 3)

Topic: Concerns Of God! (Part 3)

Text: Mark 8: 36- 38

36 “What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? 37 Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul? 38 If anyone is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when He comes in His Father’s glory with the holy angels.” Amen

For the past three days, we have been trying to identify what Jesus called the ‘Concerns of God’ when Peter called Him aside and rebuked Him for saying He would be rejected by the elders and subsequently killed.

From Jesus’ explanation, we deduce that:

1. It is a concern of God that Jesus suffered and died so that by this, He will serve as our greatest example of endurance, and His blood as the acceptable sacrifice for the purchase and cleansing of our souls.

2. It is a concern of God that we deny ourselves, take up our cross and follow Him.

3. Also, it is a concern of God that we acknowledge that it doesn’t profit anyone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul. So that by this understanding, we accept Him as Lord and Saviour and live the Christian life without fear or apology.

We are also to do the best we can to proclaim Him to the nation,  and spread the good news abroad. This we must do like a people who understand that the salvation of the soul is very important. Especially since there is nothing here on earth that one can give in exchange for their soul?

And should any of us be ashamed of Him (Jesus) and His words in this adulterous and sinful generation, then the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when He comes in His Father’s glory with the holy angels.

Beloved, meditate on this and begin to pray. Ask the Lord to help you make His concerns your heartbeat so that you are not filled with human concerns and miss the fellowship of Heaven in your life.

Ps: Self Assessment returns next week with the conclusion of the PRAYER OF DESPERATION series. Thank you
