Come and be Refreshed!

Today’s Devotion

Topic: Come and be Refreshed!

Text: Acts 3:20 NLT

“Then times of refreshment will come from the presence of the Lord, and He will again send you Jesus, your appointed Messiah.” Amen

Every living and non living thing gets totally worn out with time, and requires some nourishment for restoration. For instance, our human bodies must be refreshed after a hard day’s work in order for us to regain strength for the next day’s activities. Occasionally, engine oils in cars are changed to enhance efficiency.

Our lives as children of God need refreshment too! In Acts chapter 3, we see that a crippled beggar was healed by God through Peter and John, and that attracted attention. As all the people rushed to the temple to see what had happened, Peter addressed them to turn away from their sins and expect times of refreshment through Christ.

Beloved, you would agree that sin and life’s challenges do not only weigh us down, but also burden our lives and become a daily battle that sups our strength and energies. It also makes us want to either keep away from God or question His love for us: The main reason why going into the presence of God for renewal is very necessary.

We have a Father whose arms are always opened to usher us into His presence. In His presence, there’s the fullness of joy. He shines His countenance on us and we are free from all woes and ills. In His presence: He gives beauty for ashes, dancing for mourning, honour for shame, joy for sorrow and makes the worthless worthy.

Tell everyone who is overwhelmed, confused and worn out to choose the presence of God. Encourage them to spend time with the Lord in prayer, worship, Bible study and praise. Ask that they be sensitive to the Holy Spirit too. Then times of refreshment will come from the presence of the Lord, and renew their strength as that of the eagle.

Today is sunday, WE WILL ALL GO TO CHURCH. However, it’s important to desire and remain in the presence of God; not only on Sundays — during the service, but every single day of your life. You will never be the same again!
